This three-day institute focuses on developing coaching skills in line with school or district strategy. It includes learning and practicing listening, questioning, and giving feedback, as well as coaching methods designed to support strategic thinking and problem-solving. The institute is designed to support leaders and coaches at all levels.
Equity Institute: Leading for Equitable Classrooms
Housed at the Wadsworth Atheneum, this two-day institute is offered in proximity to powerful and moving collections from both the Wadsworth and the Amistad Center for Arts and Culture. Utilizing these poignant images as backdrop and fodder, we launch deep conversations and exercises aimed at examining the impact of racism, privilege, and bias on learning and our educational systems. Over these two days, district teams engage in strategic planning for equitable access, experiences, and positive outcomes for all students.
Instructional Rounds Institute
This two-day institute is designed to develop a focused, comprehensive strategy that supports a coherent and consistent understanding of high-quality instruction. Elements include strategic planning, coaching and methodology for detailed implementation, measurement, and participation. The Center also provides onsite coaching to support school-based rounds for institute participants. Learn more about Instructional Rounds.
The purpose of this workshop is to provide educational leaders with conceptual framework and tools to design, refine, and measure an organizational strategy for instructional improvement. Participants will receive feedback from their peers and support from the facilitators. There will be time for participants to work individually and in small groups. The workshop will conclude with an opportunity to pressure test your approach to continuous improvement. If you don’t already have a district-wide stance on high-quality instruction then you should come on the morning of day one, all other participants should join at noon that day.

Easily, the most engaging and important PD I have ever attended!
The entire workshop was useful – start to finish. I had no prior experience with Instructional Rounds, and this workshop was super informative and very engaging. I really like how it was laid out – the first day of learning in the morning and practicing, and then going live the next day. I really enjoyed the discussions within our groups. I enjoyed it all.
